What Are Interlock Braids (aka Tree Braids)?
Interlocking is the art form of braiding your natural hair in cornrows & at the same time adding and releasing loose strands of hair. It is one of the best kept secrets in hair extensions. It is also the healthiest form of hair extensions available today. In 2-4 hours you can have a style that last up to 2 months.

The process has several names, depending on what part of the country you are from: Tree Braids (there are two types: cornrow based & individual based), Interlock Weave, or Invisible Braids. The direction the hair is braided for Interlock Braids may vary. Most often the braiding pattern is circular or straight back from hairline to nape(Interlock Styles method).

Interlocks can be peformed on almost any hair type. The braids can safely cover thin, bald or damaged areas in the head. Clients with realxed or color treated hair can easily wear interlocks. Relaxed hair should be at least 2 weeks old to prevent undue stress on newly chemically treated hair.

Myths about Interlock/Tree Braids

Interlocking is not, the process of adding hair extensions to the hair after it been braided. That's considered latch hooking or crocheting.

Interlocking doesn't require glue, knotting or sewing throughout your hair. Some braiders choose to provide addtional security (reduce shedding&loosening) to the braids by using glue, or sewing the hair to the braids throughout the head. Interlock Styles extensions are locked in securely by just braiding them in properly. There's just a small amount shedding due to hair growth& maintenance requirements.

We don't use glue/thread because:
1.It's uneccessary
2.They can cause damage to your hair. Glue can pull hair out, thread can accidentally cut your hair.
3.It's too difficult for the client to remove themselves
4.The client is more likely to accidentally cut their natural hair when trying to remove it.

Done properly there are several advantages of Interlock Braids.
